How does the pace calculator work?
Pace, time and distance are locked together: time = distance × pace. Give any two and the third is fixed. Pick what you want to calculate, fill in the other two and you instantly get pace per kilometre and per mile, plus your average speed.
Pace, speed and units
Pace (min/km) and speed (km/h) are two sides of the same coin: 5:00 min/km is exactly 12 km/h. Runners usually think in pace, while cyclists and treadmills often use speed. The calculator shows both, and converts effortlessly between kilometres and miles.
Plan smarter with your pace
Use your pace to turn race goals into a workable plan: if you know you can hold 4:30/km over 10 km, you know your threshold ballpark. Combine this tool with the VDOT calculator to set paces per training zone.
